it gets colder arms & shoulders.

for dinner i made vegetable rice pilaf & braised brussels sprouts. very delicious.

now i am eating chocolate chips out of the bag & making myself sick. genius.

i finally took my air-conditioner out of the window today & my apartment is 4314 times warmer & quieter now. because the a/c is heavy as fuck, & because i am irrationally afraid of the basement, i did not take it down three flights of stairs to store it.

it is cold & blustery out. my cat is curled up on my bed very cutely. i love her intensely. i have six different grains in my kitchen, & this makes me content. dear you, i love you, you don't worry please, i don't mind having these conversations for another six months. if everyone could please update your wishlists that would make things much easier. here, i'll start. my first applications are due in two weeks. i have to go edit my writing sample now.

Funny; it looks like we have similar interests/holes in our respective libraries.

My beloved SO has a wishlist/gift database on her site that you might care to use; it's pretty user friendly, and doesn't limit you to Amazon only. You're more than welcome to make use of it if you like.

dear you,

i don't mind either (if needed).

we should do some sort of lj wishlist-exchange.

i generally feel really weird about giving out the link to mine anyway...it feels really materialistic & it makes me worry about feelings of obligation. even though i don't think that about any of the folks who give their wishlists to me. in fact, i'm usually grateful! how would we structure a wishlist exchange though?

[identity profile] redrider.livejournal.com 2002-12-03 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
i know what you mean about the feeling-materialistic. that's why an exchange might be nice -- it might alleviate some of that "you people should all buy me gifts" feeling, and would instead allow for all participants to get/give one gift, rather than having anyone feel obligated to buy things for all people on their friends list (ha!) or to choose who's most "worthy", etc.

i took part in a secret santa wishlist swap last year that my friend richard organized. i think it went pretty well, and everyone understood it was more about a gesture of appreciation/community than about getting good loot. The swap page is here: http://www.sturtle.com/santa3.html.

i've been wishing i could give several lj folks winter/holiday gifts, but am strapped enough for time and cash that participating in a swap would be more convenient.

it might also be fun to participate in some sort of other swap...maybe with a different/non-amazon-product orientation. like, everyone make a tape or CD to swap (a la the popgurls.com gurlswap)?
