who wants to talk to me about any of these grad programs and/or the cities they're in?

nyu -- american studies
uc davis -- cultural studies
uc berkeley -- rhetoric? history?
univ michigan (ann arbor) -- joint history & women's studies
uc santa cruz -- history of consciousness? history?

please advise if you have personal experience in these programs/places. it's starting to feel discouraging because i can't seem to find a program that i like which is located in a city i can happily live in for 6+ years. i need a program/faculty with strong resources in trans/gender issues, particularly in relation to masculinities, medicine (history of medicine, cultural/political implications of medicine) & maybe youth. i need a location with good public transit, queer/gender resources, & a friend or two.
