i made it to california. it was an 8-hour flight, & then about a 2-hour drive due to some gnarly traffic. i am exhausted & it's only 8.30pm here. gordon drove me up, he & anna played the part of neighborhood welcoming committee, even though they don't live here. the co-op is practically around the corner. i will have to check to see if they carry rice dream mocha pies. my things are not being delivered until wednesday which means an empty apartment until then. this town is the tiniest thing ever & i need a bike PRONTO. my apartment is wicked clean, more spacious than the old one, with new carpet, lots of cabinets & windows, & a very powerful a/c. i found a decent chair by the dumpster.

my cat is the most well-adjusted cat in the universe. the drugs i gave her wore off about 3 hours into the flight but you would have never known. she mewed very little & seems to have already settled in here. i will watch her, & learn.
