how come a slip of the tongue can upset me so much?

is it because there's really no such thing as a "slip"?

This is way easier to say than to internalize, but most people are randomly nonreflective and idiotic; maybe it reflects more of them than of you?

I don't know if there's "really" such a thing as a "slip" (except for those pieces of lingerie my mom always made me wear to church in the south). I think people blame their pronoun misses on the society around them, which is sketchy but I guess I understand it. (In the sense of "I get why you'd use the wrong pronoun for me", not "I think it's okay that you do that".)

I find that I'm having to learn not to care what pronouns people use; life's easier that way. I wish it weren't so.
