today my grandma is forcing my entire family to eat black-eyed peas & collards with hog jowl.

this is but one of many reasons i moved away.

happy new year, everyone. for the second year in a row, i spent a very content new years eve alone at home, cooking, reading & listening to music. i was also sewing this year. and i managed to stay up till midnight, but only just.

i'm thrilled to eat black-eyed peas & collards (& made some last night, in fact) but the hog jowl! lawd. it's one of the few superstitions my grandma hangs onto.
