this must be a test of will. there is no other explanation for the fact that uc davis rejected me based on an "incomplete" application (for which i have documentation proving all items were submitted-- c'mon, they didn't get my gre scores directly from ets?!) AND my letter from michigan (contents still unknown) was apparently lost in the mail.

if something could please go right, even just one small thing, it would be so excellent.

in other news, if i made anti-war t-shirts and/or patches would you all be interested? price would be to cover cost of materials & postage only. thus patches around 50c, shirts $3-4. ??

i would definitely buy a patch or t-shirt. i'd need a 3xl t-shirt but i have some plain ones that i could mail to you and pay you $4 for your time/effort to screen it.

wtf?! what do they claim is missing? your gre scores? don't all the schools send you a postcard when they receive your applications in fall or winter, letting you know whether they've received everything?! this is so incompetant of them. argh. i really wanted to see you out here!

i know, things aren't really going so well on the grad school front. they claim they never got my gre scores (sent directly when i tested in nov, i have the confirmation from ets) & writing sample (emailed as instructed to the program asst, i have a copy of the email). i've been calling every day to see if they will find my shit & (re)consider my app, but i'm afraid it's too late by now.

i wouldn't have even known that my letter from michigan was lost if i hadn't emailed them today to find out when i might expect it. apparently they are re-sending it.

if i have to re-apply next year, i will be SO MUCH WISER.

i know, i was worried that the department never even saw the application because the graduate division never sent it to them due to it being "incomplete."

i have never known anyone to have this kind of bad luck on their apps. you must be stockpiling some serious motherfucking good karma for all of this.

i would be interested. i definitely have enough faith in you that you'd come up with something intelligent and non-alienating (not like "FUCK WAR" or something. cringe.). :)

and my god, this grad school debacle is insane.

davis = lame

what were they thinking? not much obviously. you should definitely refute...people do and i've heard some success stories. you should also check for rolling admissions.

i'm in on the anti-war stuff...especially if YOU make something, i'm sure it will be rad.

Dude, I so want a Brahms not Bombs patch. Or Make Cookies, Not War or something like that. I will send you money, and even include one of my housemates' anti-war fliers with their photocopied asses and clever slogans such as "butts to the war" and "no war! spring break 2003" on them. Heh.

hey i would buy a shirt or patch if you made them. i trust you not to make the kind of anti-war tshirts that the peace group at my school made, with a big statue-of-liberty-esque woman on the back. women are a symbol of peace, you know. or something.

While that is obviously totally fucked, I think when it hits 110 degrees around June 24th (and stays there for weeks, from 8 am to 11 pm) you will be counting your lucky stars. Not to mention that a dept that cannot send a fucking postcard telling you to get your app together is not likely one that will have support for its students in its program. I plan to spread the word about the gefuckedness of this to others who might be interested...
