i went to high school with someone who is going to be on "the bachelor" tonight. my grandma called to tell me to watch.

i got a bike. it is a kid's bike because they didn't have any grown-up bikes small enough for me. how frustrating. it's rad though, & i put a basket on the back. i want to ride it constantly but my butt is still getting accustomed to the seat so i have to pace myself. i have an elaborate locking system because i'm very paranoid about it getting stolen.

i went to campus today to photocopy my section syllabus & check out the rooms for my sections & find the office for women's studies TAs. the walls are bare in my office, so i am going to hang up the posters that keight, laura & i made a few years ago for the women's guerilla history project. i'm so glad i didn't recycle them when i was packing to move here.

Make sure your bike is adjusted properly. That'll help your butt be more comfortable.

Yeah, bikes for small adults are hard to find.
Particularly in models that aren't designed as 'woman-specific', with attendant marketing. (feh.)

So what make/model did you end up buying.

yeah, i'm actually thinking about taking it into the campus bike shop & asking them to help me fit it. although i also think it's just gonna take a few days of riding consistently to get my butt used to it. i haven't ridden a bike in about 5 years!

i got a gary fisher tyro. the good thing about getting a kid bike is that it cost a little less. i like it a lot so far. plus, this is the first time i've ever had a "real" bike (i.e. not a dept store one) & it's making me super interested in all aspects of bike maintenance, etc. thanks for your bike-shopping advice a while ago, by the way.

wow, i just looked at the posters and was impressed. they are so beautiful. damn i wish i had design skills (like any). and it' so awesome to picture boston covered with these!

are you thinking about reprising this any time? and can folks in other cities use any of these for similar projects?

actually that website is for the san francisco/bay area group, i believe. a lot of other cities have started doing it as well. i only did it one year, but it was really really fun (although totally FREEZING in boston in march). you could write to the contact address on that website, or just start your own group. it traditionally happens in march for women's history month.
