wanted: one rad trans-aware friend to follow me around in public places & be my personal name/pronoun corrector.

payment: vegan baked goods, perhaps a dinner or two, lots of squishes, & big beaming smiles of appreciation whenever you set people right.

duration of job: one week. possibility of extension for particularly troublesome cases.

qualifications: awareness of appropriate language. ability to be firm but diplomatic with strangers (who are most likely my friends/coworkers/acquaintances). ability to convincingly argue, if necessary, the difference between sex & gender & why it is not okay to blame incorrect names/pronouns on a person's physical attributes. must have track record of using correct name/pronouns (so as to provide a solid example). must like me, personally, & be willing to spend significant amounts of time with me for a week.

Oh, post-Harvard Elle, definitely (or, post-arrival-at-Harvard Elle)...not that pre-Harvard Elle's not fabulous, but I think I identify more with the nobody's-gonna-stop-me attitude of Elle in the hallowed halls.

I think there must be a boy equivalent to the squeal...must discuss that tomorrow night!
