And again i say, ugh.

But I had some conversations with David Halperin (whee!) at the conference this weekend that gave me some ideas that might be useful for talking about this, once I do some research... short version: I think the gay thinkers of the 1960s and 70s may have a lot more to say about this than I'd thought. I just have to dig up some sources.

And i think i'm going to start looking at American Studies/Civilization or History programs. I am such a geek.

I am amazed that it was possible for someone to write an article in which they appear to be addressing the socio-economic issues of a situation, yet actually end up burying them further under misleading and generally fucked up statements about other things.

wow. that is horrendous! i remember the first time i realized that intolerance existed within the gay community. i was completely shocked. i mean how could anyone practice the very thing you're fighting. it's amazing the rationalizing that can go on.

i'm also finding trouble understanding the word tolerance. and how it's different than acceptance...and is that difference significant.
