day one the first day.
Sep. 2nd, 2003 11:49 ami'm glad i've lived in small agricultural areas & college towns before. otherwise this would all be a terrible culture shock. i want to get started on the new life, but it's a holiday & there is nothing to do-- i can't open my bank account, get my new drivers license, buy a bike, get a pobox. i walked to the co-op & bought cleaning supplies & shampoo & some fruit. whenever i am feeling sad or fed up with this town, i plan to go to the co-op.
i know i'll feel better when my items arrive & i can stop sleeping on the floor & cook real food in my own kitchen again. i need to figure out how to transport & move furniture. frieda keeps hogging the single chair in the apartment.
i checked my mailbox & had no mail yet. i don't know how to set up my voicemail. i can't go to the city today really, because i have to be back tomorrow morning to meet with the landlord. i feel restless.

Date: 2003-09-01 07:07 pm (UTC)I had thought about renting a truck for a few hours or buying furniture at a place that delivers. It's tricky though. I know where I used to live the Salvation Army had a guy who did a sort of freelance furniture delievery thing for them.
Maybe you should just ask everyone you meet, right off, if they ahve a truck, and if they say no, put no further effort into getting to know them - simply move on until you get what you need!
